The State Board of Education passed its budget request for the coming year. This is the formal request that the Board makes to the Legislature. Of course, a lot happens between the Board's request and the final state budget....but there is good news!
The State Board is requesting an increase of $3.6 million for Alternative Education programs -- and ALL of that new money is to go to the schools. You can see the Budget Request here.
I would bet that there will be an update on the funding request at the next regional meeting. The next regional meeting should be a virtual meeting sometime this winter...watch for an email from the SDE's Alternative Education Listserve in a month or so. If you aren't on the SDE's Alternative Education Listserve, just send an email to Jennifer Wilkinson and she will make sure you are added.
