It's important to note that, as of right now, alternative education is fully funded in the proposed budget for next year. It is this year's budget that is being cut.
I verified this with the Chair of the House Common Education Appropriations committee -- school programs will get the same amount they were supposed to get this year.
You may have seen a piece of paper floating around that shows that the line item for Alternative Education was smaller. The line item is smaller because some programs that had been included under Alt Ed were taken out. The amount that goes to schools is unchanged.
